Removes Sins
Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) narrates: “Those who perform the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn(a) place their sins at the door of their house. When they leave, their sins are left behind them the way one leaves a bridge behind after crossing over it.”
Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) narrates: “When a man leaves his family to perform the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a), his sins will be forgiven with each step that he takes. As he travels, he will become more and more purified. Once he arrives, Allāh will secretly speak to him and say, “O’ My slave! Ask Me for anything and I will grant it. Call upon Me for I will answer you. Request anything and I will fulfill it. Ask Me for any of your needs so I may grant it.”
Imām(a) added, “And he will be compensated by Allāh for all which he spent during the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn(a).”
Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) narrates: “Allāh has devoted some angels to the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a). When a person decides to perform the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn(a), Allāh will give his sins to these angels. The angels will erase his sins with each step he takes as well as multiply his good deeds. They will continue to do this until his reward will be paradise. Then the angels will surround him and bless him. They will cry out to the angels of the heavens and say, “Bless the visitors of the Beloved of the Beloved of Allāh.” After the visitors perform ghusl, Muḥammad(s) will cry out to them, “O’ guests of Allāh! Be joyous for you will join me in paradise.” Then ʾAmīr al-Muʾminīn(a) will cry out to them, “I guarantee the fulfillment of your requests and to keep the afflictions away from you in this life and in the hereafter.” Then Rasūl Allāh(s), ʾAmīr al-Muʾminīn( a), and the angels will surround the visitors. They will remain on their right and left sides until the visitors return to their families.”
Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) narrates: “When you return from the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a), a crier will call out to you. If you could hear that call, you would remain next to the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a) for the rest of your life. The crier will say, “Joy be for you, o’ slave of Allāh. You are victorious and are secured. Your past sins have been forgiven. Now go forward and continue with good deeds.”
Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) narrates: “The least reward for those who perform the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn( a) by the banks of the Euphrates whilst having maʿrifah and believing in his glory and wilayah is their past and future sins will be forgiven.”
Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) narrates: “Those who wish to be honored by Allāh and to be included in the intercession of Muḥammad(s) on the Day of Judgment should perform the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn(a). Allāh will honor those who do with the best of honors and rewards. He will not questions them regarding the sins they have committed during their lives even if their sins are greater in number than the grains of sand, the foam in the sea or the mountains of Tihama1. Al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī(a) was oppressed and unjustly slaughtered while he, his family, and his companions were thirsty.”
Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) narrates: “When a person leaves his house to perform the ziyārah of Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī(a), Allāh dedicates an angel to him who places his finger on the back of the visitors and will begin recording on his back every word that comes out of his mouth until he reaches the Ḥāʾir2. After he leaves the Ḥāʾir, the angel will place his palm on the middle of his back and say, “All of your past sins have been forgiven. Continue on with good deeds.”
ʿAbd Allāh b. Muskān narrates: I saw Imām Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq(a) when a group of people from Khorasan came to visit him. They asked him regarding the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a) and its rewards. Imām(a) said, “My father narrated to me from my grandfather who use to say, ‘Allāh will erase the sins of those who perform the ziyārah of al-Ḥusayn(a) for the sake of Allāh. They will become sinless like a newborn baby. Angels will accompany them on their way to the ziyārah and will spread their wings over their heads until they return to their families. Angels will seek forgiveness for them from their Lord and will cry out to them, “You have been blessed and blessed is the one whose ziyārah you have come for.’ They will be covered by the mercy from the heavens and their families will be protected for them.”
