Zīyārat Wārith

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ آدَمَ صَفْوَةِ اللَّه

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha ādama ¥afwati allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Adam the choice of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوحٍ نَبِيِّ الله

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha n£¦in nabiyyi allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Noah the prophet of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلِ الله

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha ibrāh¢ma khal¢li allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Abraham the intimate friend of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوسَى كَلِيمِ اللَّه

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha mūsā kal¢mi allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Moses the spoken by Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِيسَى رُوحِ الله

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha `¢sā r£¦i allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Jesus the spirit of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَبِيبِ الله

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha mu¦ammadin ¦ab¢bi allāhi

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Muḥammad the most beloved by Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ أمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ

alssalāmu `alayka yā wāritha am¢ri almu'min¢na

Peace be upon you, O inheritor of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُصْطَفَى اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ عَلِيٍّ الْمُرْتَضَى

alssalāmu `alayka yabna mu¦ammadin almu¥§afā alssalāmu `alayka yabna Alīyyin almurta¤ā

Peace be upon you, O son of Muḥammad the well-chosen Prophet. Peace be upon you, O son of Alī the well-pleased.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَاءِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَدِيـجَةَ الْكُبْرَى

alssalāmu `alayka yabna fā§imata alzzahrā’i alssalāmu `alayka yabna khad¢jata alkubrā

Peace be upon you, O son of Fāṭima the luminous lady. Peace be upon you, O son of Khad¢jah the grand lady.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ الله وَابْنَ ثَارِهِ وَالْوِتْرَ الْمَوْتُورَ

alssalāmu `alayka yā thāra allāhi wabna thārih¢ walwitra almawt£ra

Peace be upon you, O vengeance of Allāh, son of His vengeance, and the unavenged so far.

أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ قَدْ أقَمْتَ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَيْتَ الزَّكَاةَ وَأمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ

ashhadu annaka qad aqamta al¥¥alāta wa ātayta alzzakāta wa amarta bilma`r£fi wa nahayta `an almunkari

I bear witness that you performed the prayers, defrayed the poor-rate, enjoined the right, forbade the wrong,

وَأطَعْتَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ حَتَّى أتَاكَ الْيَقِينُ

wa a§a`ta allāha wa ras£lah£ ¦attā atāka alyaq¢nu

and obeyed Allāh and His Messenger until death came upon you.

فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً ظَلَمَتْكَ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذٰلِكَ فَرَضِيَتْ بِهِ

fala`ana allāhu ummatan qatalatka wa la`ana allāhu ummatan ¨alamatka wa la`ana allāhu ummatan sami`at bidhālika fara¤iyat bih¢

So, may Allāh curse the people who slew you. May Allāh curse the people who persecuted you. May Allāh curse the people who were pleased when they had heard of that.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أبَا عَبْدِ الله أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ كُنْتَ نُوراً فِي الأصْلاَبِ الشَّامِخَةِ وَالأرْحَامِ الْمُطَهَّرَةِ

yā mawlāya yā abā `abdillāhi ashhadu annaka kunta n£ran f¢ al-a¥lābi alshshāmikhati wal-ar¦āmi almu§ahharati

O my Master, O Abū ʿAbd Allāh! I bear witness that you were light in the sublime loins and purified wombs;

لَمْ تُنَجِّسْكَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةُ بِأنْجَاسِهَا وَلَمْ تُلْبِسْكَ مِنْ مُدْلَهِمَّاتِ ثِيَابِهَا

lam tunajjiska aljāhiliyyatu bi’anjāsihā wa lam tulbiska min mudlahimmāti thiyābihā

the impurities of the Ignorance Era could not object you to filth nor could it dress you its murky clothes.

وَأشْهَدُ أنَّكَ مِنْ دَعَائِمِ الدِّينِ وَأرْكَانِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

wa ashhadu annaka min da`ā'imi aldd¢ni wa arkāni almu'min¢na

I also bear witness that you are one of the mainstays of the religion and the supports of the faithful believers.

وَأشْهَدُ أنَّكَ الإِمَامُ الْبَرُّ التَّقِيُّ الرَّضِيُّ الزَّكِيُّ الْهَادِي الْمَهْدِيُّ

wa ashhadu annaka al-imāmu albarru alttaqiyyu alrra¤iyyu alzzakiyyu alhād¢ almahdiyyu

I also bear witness that you are the God-fearing, pious, pleased, immaculate, guide, and well-guided Imām.

وَأشْهَدُ أنَّ الأئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِكَ كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوَى وَأعْلاَمُ الْهُدَى وَالْعُروَةُ الْوُثْقَى وَالْحُجَّةُ عَلَى أهْلِ الدُّنْيَا

wa ashhadu anna al-a'immata min wuldika kalimatu alttaqwā wa a`lāmu alhudā wal`urwatu alwuthqā wal¦ujjatu `alā ahli alddunyā

And (I bear witness) that the Imāms from your progeny are the spokesmen of piety, the signs of guidance, the firmest handle (of Islam), and the decisive Argument against the inhabitants of the world.

وَأشْهِدُ اللَّهَ وَمَلاَئِكَتَهُ وَأنْبِيَاءَهُ وَرُسُلَهُ أنِّي بِكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ وَبِإِيَابِكُمْ مُوقِنٌ

wa ushhidu allāha wa malā’ikatah£ wa anbiyā'ah£ wa rusulah£ ann¢ bikum mu'minun wa bi’yābikum m£qinun

And I call Allāh, His angels, His Prophets, and His Messenger to witness for me that I believe in you all and in your Return,

بِشَرَائِعِ دِينِي وَخَوَاتِيمِ عَمَلي وَقَلْبِي لِقَلْبِكُمْ سِلْمٌ وَأمْرِي لأمْرِكُمْ مُتَّبِعٌ

bisharā'i`i d¢n¢ wa khawāt¢mi `amal¢ wa qalb¢ liqalbikum silmun wa amr¢ li'amrikum muttbi`un

I have full confidence in the laws of my religion and in the seals of my deeds, my heart is at peace with you all, and all my affairs are based on your commands.

صَلَوَاتُ الله عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَلَى أرْوَاحِكُمْ وَعَلَى أجْسَادِكُمْ وَعَلَى أجْسَامِكُمْ

¥alawātu allāhi `alaykum wa `alā arwā¦ikum wa `alā ajsādikum wa `alā ajsāmikum

May Allāh’s benedictions be on your souls, your bodies, your forms,

وَعَلَى شَاهِدِكُمْ وَعَلَى غَائِبِكُمْ وَعَلَى ظَاهِرِكُمْ وَعَلَى بَاطِنِكُمْ

wa `alā shāhidikum wa `alā ghā’ibkum wa `alā ¨āhirikum wa `alā bā§inikum

the present and the absent from you, and the apparent and the invisible from you.

بِأبِي أنْتَ وَأمِّي يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ الله بِأبِي أنْتَ وَأمِّي يَا أبَا عَبْدِ الله

bi'ab¢ anta wa umm¢ yabna ras£li allāhi bi'ab¢ anta wa umm¢ yā abā `abdillāhi

My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O son of the Messenger of Allāh! My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Aba `Abdullah!

لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ الرَّزِيَّةُ وَجَلَّتِ الْمُصيبَةُ بِكَ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى جَمِيعِ أهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضِ

laqad `a¨umat alrraziyyatu wa jallat almu¥¢batu bika `alaynā wa `alā jam¢`i ahli alssamāwāti wal-ar¤i

Extremely terrible was the calamity and astounding is the misfortune that you suffered upon us and upon all the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth.

فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً أسْرَجَتْ وَألْجَمَتْ وَتَهَيَّأتْ لِقِتَالِكَ

fala`ana allāhu ummatan asrajat wa aljamat wa tahayya'at liqitālika

Therefore, Allāh may curse the people who saddled up, gave rein to their horses, and prepared themselves to kill you.

يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أبَا عَبْدِ الله قَصَدْتُ حَرَمَكَ وَأتَيْتُ إِلَى مَشْهَدِكَ

yā mawlāya yā abā `abdillāhi qa¥adtu ¦aramaka wa ataytu ilā mashhadika

O my Master, O Aba `Abdullah! I moved towards your sanctuary and came to your shrine

أسْألُ اللَّهَ بِالشَّأنِ الَّذِي لَكَ عِنْدَهُ وَبِالْمَحَلِّ الَّذِي لَكَ لَدَيْهِ

as'alu allāha bilshsha'ni alladh¢ laka `indah£ wa bilma¦alli alladh¢ laka ladayhi

beseeching Allāh in the name of the standing that you enjoy with Him and the position that you occupy with Him

أنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مَعَكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ

an yu¥alliya `alā mu¦ammadin wa āli mu¦ammadin wa an yaj`alan¢ ma`akum f¢ alddunyā wal-ākhirati

to send blessings on Muḥammad and on the Household of Muḥammad and to keep me with you in this world and in the Hereafter.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ الله اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ نَبِيِّ الله

alssalāmu `alayka yabna ras£li allāhi alssalāmu `alayka yabna nabiyyi allāhi

Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allāh. Peace be upon you, O son of the Prophet of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ أمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ الشَّهِيدِ

alssalāmu `alayka yabna am¢ri almu’min¢na alssalāmu `alayka yabna al¦usayni alshshah¢di

Peace be upon you, O son of the commander of the faithful. Peace be upon you, O son of al-Ḥusayn the martyr.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أيُّهَا الشَّهِيدُ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ أيُّهَا الْمَظْلُومُ وَابْنُ الْمَظْلُومِ

alssalāmu `alayka ayyuhā alshshah¢du alssalāmu `alayka ayyuhā alma¨l£mu wabnu alma¨l£mi

Peace be upon you, O martyr. Peace be upon you, O wronged and harassed and the son of the wrong and harassed.

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً ظَلَمَتْكَ وَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذٰلِكَ فَرَضَيِتْ بِهِ

la`ana allāhu ummatan qatalatka wa la`ana allāhu ummatan ¨alamatka wa la`ana allāhu ummatan sami`at bidhālika fara¤iyat bih¢

Curse of Allāh be on those who killed you. Curse of Allāh be on those who persecuted you. Curse of Allāh be on those who heard this even but rested satisfied.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ الله وَابْنَ وَلِيِّهِ

alssalāmu `alayka yā waliyya allāhi wabna waliyyih¢

Peace be upon you, O intimate servant of Allāh and the son of His intimate servant.

لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ الْمُصيبَةُ وَجَلَّتِ الرَّزِيَّةُ بِكَ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى جَمِيعِ الْمُسْلِمينَ

laqad `a¨umat almu¥¢batu wa jallat alrraziyyatu bika `alaynā wa `alā jam¢`i almuslim¢na

Extremely terrible was the calamity and astounding is the misfortune that you suffered, upon us and upon all Muslims.

فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أمَّةً قَتَلَتْكَ وَأبْرَأ إِلَى الله وَإِلَيْكَ مِنْهُمْ

fala`ana allāhu ummatan qatalatka wa abra'u ilā allāhi wa ilayka minhum

So, curse of Allāh be on those who killed you and I disavow them in the presence of Allāh and You.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أوْلِيَاءَ الله وَأحِبَّائَهُ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أصْفِيَاءَ الله وَأوِدَّاءَهُ

alssalāmu `alaykum yā awliyā'a allāhi wa a¦ibbā’ah£ alssalāmu `alaykum yā a¥fiyā'a allāhi wa awiddā'ah£

Peace be upon all of you, O friends and dears of Allāh. Peace be upon all of you, O choice of Allāh and sincerely attached to Him.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ دِينِ الله اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ رَسُولِ الله

alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra d¢ni allāhi alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra ras£li allāhi

Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Allāh’s religion. Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of the Messenger of Allāh.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ أمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ

alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra am¢ri almu’min¢na alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra fā§imata sayyidati nisā'i al`ālam¢na

Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of the Commander of the Faithful. Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Fāṭimah the doyenne of the women of this world.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ أبِي مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَلِيِّ النَّاصِحِ

alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra ab¢ mu¦ammadin al¦asani ibni Alīyyin alwaliyyi alnnā¥i¦i

Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Abi Mhammad, al-Ḥasan the son of Alī, the saintly and sincere.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا أنْصَارَ أبِي عَبْدِ الله

alssalāmu `alaykum yā an¥āra ab¢ `abdillāhi

Peace be upon all of you, O supporters of Aba-`Abdullah.

بِأبِي أنْتُمْ وَأمِّي طِبْتُمْ وَطَابَتِ الأرْضُ الَّتِي فِيهَا دُفِنْتُمْ

bi'ab¢ antum wa umm¢ §ibtum wa §ābat al-ar¤u allat¢ f¢hā dufintum

My father and mother be sacrificed for you. Verily, pure be you and pure be the soil in which you were buried.

وَفُزْتُمْ فَوْزاً عَظيماً فَيَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ مَعَكُمْ فَأفُوزَ مَعَكُمْ

wa fuztum fawzan `a¨¢man fayālaytan¢ kuntu ma`akum fa'af£za ma`akum

You attained great success. Would that I were with you so that I could also share the accomplishment with you.
