Merits
Ḥasan b. ʿAlī al-Washā’ narrates: I asked Imām al-Riḍā(a) if the reward for performing the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) is the same as the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a).
Imām(a) replied, “Yes.”
Al-Ḥusayn b. Yasār al-Wāṣitī narrates: I asked Imām al-Riḍā(a), “Should I perform the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) in Baghdad?”
Imām(a) replied, “Yes, but if you go, perform the ziyārah behind a veil.”
Ḥasan b. ʿAlī al-Washā’ narrates: I asked Imām al-Riḍā(a), “What are the rewards for those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of your father Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a)?”
Imām(a) replied, “The same as those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a).”
A companion narrates: I asked Imām al-Riḍā(a) about performing the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a). Imām(a) replied, “Perform prayers in the mosques beside the grave.”
Al-Ḥusayn b. Yasār al-Wāṣitī narrates: I asked Imām al-Riḍā(a), “What are the rewards for those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of your father Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a)?”
Imām(a) replied, “Its rewards are the same as the rewards for those who perform the ziyārah of his father ( Rasūl Allāh(s)).” I asked, “What if I am unable to enter near his grave out of fear?” Imām(a) replied, “Then say salam from behind the wall.”
Al-Ḥusayn b. Muḥammad al-Qummī narrates: Imām al-Riḍā(a) said to me, “Those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of my father (Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim) in Baghdad are like those who have performed the ziyārah of Rasūl Allāh( s) and the grave of ʾAmīr al-Muʾminīn(a), except there are certain rewards associated only with Rasūl Allāh(s) and ʾAmīr al-Muʾminīn(a).”
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abū Najrān narrates: I asked Imām Muḥammad al-Taqī(a), “What is the reward for those who performed the ziyārah of Rasūl Allāh(s) for the sole purpose of performing ziyārah?” Imām(a) replied, “Their reward is paradise as well as those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim( a), their reward is also paradise.”
Imām al-Riḍā(a) narrates: “The ziyārah of the grave of my father Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) is the same as the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a).”
Raḥīm narrates: I said to Imām al-Riḍā(a), “May I be sacrificed for you! We face many hardships when we perform the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) in Baghdad. This is why we say our salam to him behind a wall. What are the rewards for those who perform his ziyārah?”
Imām(a) replied, “I swear by Allāh that it is the same as the rewards for performing the ziyārah of the grave of Rasūl Allāh(s). “
Raḥīm narrates: I said to Imām al-Riḍā(a), “We face numerous hardships when we perform the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) in Baghdad. What are the rewards for those who perform his ziyārah?”
Imām(a) replied, “Its rewards are the same as the rewards for those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of al-Ḥusayn(a).” After Imām(a) said this, a man entered, greeted the Imām(a), and then sat down. He began speaking about Baghdad, how its people were inferior, and about the calamities which are expected to befall Baghdad, such as the collapsing of the earth the upheaval, and the bolts of lightning. When I got up to leave, I heard Imām al-Riḍā(a) say, “As for Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a), none of the calamities will affect Him.”
Ibrahim b. ‘Uqbah narrates: I wrote to Imām Ali al-Naqī(a) asking him about the ziyārah of the grave of Imām al-Ḥusayn(a) and about the ziyārah of the graves of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) and Imām Muḥammad al-Taqī(a). Imām(a) replied, “Imām Al-Ḥusayn(a) comes first, but the ziyārah of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) and Imām Muḥammad al-Taqī(a) is more complete and brings greater rewards.”
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abū Najrān narrates: I asked Imām Muḥammad al-Taqī(a), “What is the reward for those who perform the ziyārah of Rasūl Allāh(s) with the sole purpose of performing his ziyārah?” Imām(a) replied, “Their reward is paradise and the reward for those who perform the ziyārah of the grave of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim(a) is also paradise.”
